List the assessment methods to be used and the context and resources required for assessment. Copy and paste the relevant sections from the evidence guide below and then re-write these in plain English.
ELEMENTS | PERFORMANCE CRITERIA |
Elements describe the essential outcomes | Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element. Where bold italicised text is used, further information is detailed in the range of conditions section. |
1. Monitor incineration plant performance | 1.1 Monitor test results and combustion processes. 1.2 Identify and report process faults and the operational condition of plant. 1.3 Select and check equipment. 1.4 Fit and use personal protective equipment. |
2. Operate and control processes | 2.1 Carry out routine plant inspections. 2.2 Conduct and analyse process tests and compare performance to operational requirements. 2.3 Make system adjustments to improve system performance. 2.4 Collect, interpret and record process data and report. |
3. Compile process records | 3.1 Compile reports from plant and system data. 3.2 Report observations outside defined parameters for further action. |
Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the candidate must demonstrate evidence of performance of the following on at least one occasion.
solving operational problems
completing reports and logs
identifying control system faults
sampling and testing products
conducting routine plant inspections
performing routine calculations when sampling and conducting basic tests
preparing and applying incineration processes
making basic system adjustments
completing required documentation
Evidence required to demonstrate competence must satisfy all of the requirements of the elements and performance criteria. If not otherwise specified the depth of knowledge demonstrated must be appropriate to the job context of the candidate.
coordination processes
system layout
system processes
lockout procedures for mechanical and electrical installations
relevant utilities and service bodies
hazardous materials handling
environmental aspects of wastewater treatment
equipment operation, capacity and limitations
effects of weather and conditions on operation of site or plant
pipes and fittings
mechanical and electrical control systems
Competency should be assessed in an actual workplace or in a simulated environment, with access to equipment and infrastructure appropriate to the outcome. Competency should be demonstrated over time to ensure the candidate is assessed across a variety of situations.
Assessors must satisfy the NVR/AQTF mandatory competency requirements for assessors.
